*enter witty/creative title here*

I am a trivia junkie, especially with movies. When I watch a movie with an actor I've never seen I look up the actor on imdb.com and read everything there is to know about him/her. I also look at the movie sites and read all the trivia, the goof-ups, etc.

My favorite tv show is Gilmore Girls. I recently bought the box set of all seven seasons and before I even watched any episodes I watched every single feature and learned a lot about the actors.

I'm such a creeper.

HOWEVER! Reading about Gilmore Girls on imdb.com brought something interesting to my attention. The set of Stars Hollow is also the set used to created River City, Iowa for both Music Man films, and the exterior of Lorelai's inn, the Dragonfly, is also the house from The Waltons. And according to my best friend, Sookie's house was the house from Growing Pains!

With this new information in hand I rented the original Music Man film (the GOOD one, not Matthew Broderick's boring attempt) and found Stars Hollow within! Luke's Diner is the pool hall! That building behind the crowd during the song "Trouble"? Dosey's Market! And replace that statue he's singing in front of with a gazebo and you've the town square!

I'm probably the only person who finds this fascinating, and everyone reading this now thinks I'm a totaly freakazoid....

In other news, I went to the wedding of a childhood friend on Saturday! It was in their backyard and the weather was perfect and she was beautiful.

And my sister and bro-in-law came as well and we had a fantabulous evening of thai food and insane Egyptian Ratscrew and fun was had by all!

Ode to Jade Green Walls

Oh green walled rooms that sealed my fate
So early on Thursday morning.
An ant on my plate, so super great,
And then the doctor issued a warning.

You are too young to be so thin,
He said to my knees quite blithely
It's cross training for you
Oh, yes, it's true!
Or they'll hate you forever, most likely.

Aaaaand, I'm out. I was never very good at poetry.

So yes, I did go to the orthopedic doctor today. We got there fifteen minutes early and waited forty-five and I was easily the youngest person in the waiting room and I found a live ant in my baggie of cereal. We were in the building in which my dad worked when I was small so I spent the morning with older women fawning over me, how much I've grown, etc. Dad boasted about how I'm the runner in the family, I had to explain my hard-to-explain job, and we walked down memory lane.

However!

The doctor finally saw me and checked my poor bum knee for the second time, pressing on every point that it hurt. I had to get X-Rays done this time, and when we looked at them he gave me the exciting news that I was born with very little cartilage in my knee joints and if I want to still have my own original knees twenty years from now my running is restricted and I'm not allowed to do high impact aerobics anymore. He discussed cross-training, doing a lot of yoga and pilates and Dad said the eliptical machine or stationary bike is also permissable.

Brilliant.

However!

The doctor is also so positive about his initial diagnosis of a bilateral plica that he didn't think an MRI to be necessary. Instead we just did the aforementioned x-rays and scheduled me for knee surgery. I go in a mere week from Tuesday, on the 28th. We discussed it briefly, but I do not enjoy discussing anything medical, especially when it has to do with needles, so that was a quick conversation that was mostly about what they'll do to get the IV in my arm without a Broadway musical sized scene from me.

Most likely I'll have a panic attack on my way to surgery that day.

Johnny is bummed about it because that will be his second day on his new job and he won't be able to come.

Speaking of Johnny, yesterday was his birthday! I drove out to Canton and bought him lunch and we had cake at the store he works at and it was a lovely morning. Happy 25th birthday to my handsome!

Holy Hair, Batman!

So, I did end up cutting my hair.

before

right after!

next day after I washed and styled it.

So worth it!

Friday, September 10, 2010

Today is one of those days where I really want to chop all of my hair off so it looks like Carrie Mulligan's.

I mean, seriously, how cute is that?? Plus it would take all of five seconds to wash and dry, and my natural hair color could grow back in!

However, my HUGE shnoz and lack of defined jawline make this impossible.

Plus, my boyfriend and his dad would kick my ass and I would eventually really regret it.

*sigh*

No-Labor-at-All Day

I literally just had the best weekend ever. It's so nice to be able to say that, even though I've said it many times before. But this time it seriously was the best weekend ever. Part of me was a little afraid that my excitement for the weekend to come was so great that the weekend wouldn't live up to it, rather like how excited I was to go to D.C. in 8th grade and ended up ill, or when I went to Christmas Conference and spent the first half of a full day in the hotel room recovering from a rumble with a double shot espresso on an empty stomach.

It began on Friday night when my best friend finally appeared at my house. Yes, I was still working, but that didn't stop me from digging through the bag of clothes she purged from her closet and brought for me to choose from. We watched Gilmores as I worked and chatted about life, etc, and finalized our plans for the following morning.

Saturday found us leaving my house at quarter of 8 in the morning to drive to Dublin, OH, to meet up with our long lost friend Courtney who recently moved to Ohio! Thankfully Jess remembered her camera and then I pilfered some pics from Facebook to post on here! The four of us (Jess, Court, Court's friend Katy and myself) went to Starbucks and talked for two straight hours. We would've talked longer if they didn't have a bridal shower to attend just down the road at 11am.

No matter! Dublin is a super cute place so Jess and I ran around the main drag taking pics and stopping in a yarn store that I fell in love with and an Irish Import store where we had a long chat with the owner about GPS's, big festivals, and red hair.

Next stop was the North Market in downtown Columbus for ethnic food before taking a wander down High Street on a search for vintage stores where we tried on clothes and had a photo shoot.

On our drive to Columbus that morning we passed the exit for St Rt 37 to either Granville or Lancaster and I told Jess all about my love for Granville, especially Dennison University which is basically the prettiest place in Ohio, so we decided to leave Cbus a little early and make a pit stop in Granville so she could see it. There are no pictures of this detour, so I have borrowed a few.

We then drove to Canton so she could meet my Clyde, which was a total success. We also went to Plato's Closet for some cheap new finds and I got a beauteous grandpa sweater for practically nothing so it was a major score for me! However, after this escapade Jess and I drove back to my house and then she drove home and Johnny came a half hour later to take her place! We spent Sunday at the Stark County Fair, of which there are no pictures because all County fairs look exactly the same. We ate half of a HUGE blooming onion and then felt sick later and stood in line for a good twenty minutes for a ride we found required us to have purchased tickets beforehand.

Today we both had the day off so I made homemade buttermilk pancakes for breakfast and we wandered the streets of New Concord, ran into a couple of friends down by the coffee shop who insisted on praying for the third time over my bum knee, and visited our favorite administration at the University. Mostly, though, we lounged around the house and watched a couple of movies and ate a really great homemade dinner that made Johnny fall completely in love with my family.

Over all, amazing, amazing weekend! God really is just so good.
